Beschreibung
Extremely rare ac 2 litre aluminium bodied drophead coupe of which i believe only 14 were ever built.
it can really be described as being a genuine garage find as it has been owned by the same family since 1987 and has been dry stored and not used for approx 25 years.
it is a matching number car still fitted with its correct straight 6 triple carburettor engine.
it is very complete even down to its jack and starting handle.
there is a file of paperwork going back to the early 80s of which it had a substantial amount of money spent on it including an engine rebuild, front seats retrimming in new leather and a new hood remade and fitted, there is also a handbook and instruction book.
it still retains its original registration number of which i have an old and current v5 and have been informed is transferable and quite valuable, but i believe it should stay on the car.
it looks to be a very unmolested original example having never been restored, merely maintained to keep it on the road.
it has its original brass chassis plate still fitted and ac makers body plates fitted to the sills.
it now needs to go to an enthusiast who can give it the restoration that it quite rightly deserves.
it will need the body stripping and painting as it does have some corrosion and the odd crack in the paint expected of a 72 year old unrestored example. The chassis appears to be in excellent condition.
the car does now start instantly after some fettling and fresh petrol, it does move under its own steam so to speak but this would purely be for loading and unloading as it will obviously need transporting to its new owner.
very difficult to put a value on it although one was recently advertised and believed sold for 35k
this really is a rare oportunity to own a piece of british motoring history and is a very reluctant sale due to a change in cicumstances.
