Vehicle history:
On April 29, 1981, the German importer for Maserati, Auto König in Munich, delivered this vehicle to its first owner, a doctor from Vienna. Exactly 30 years later to the day, the current owner in Duisburg had the car registered after purchasing it from a Belgian dealer in 2010 with a mileage of only 14, 500 km. This Khamsin is in absolute original condition. Only the original Maserati rims were swapped with aluminum rims of identical design, as the factory-mounted magnesium rims tended to crack and pit, which posed a safety risk. In 2013, the car was named the best-preserved Khamsin by factory judges at the Khamsin 40th Anniversary. Marcello Ghandini, designer of the car, signed this example on the inside of the passenger sun visor. Maserati provided the car with a Dynitrol cavity sealant at the factory. The Khamsin, named following Maserati's corporate philosophy after an Arabian desert wind, was the successor to the Ghibli and was created during the late stages of ownership by the French Citroen Group. It was for a time the only front engine Maserati along with the Maserati Bora and the Maserati Merak.
