MG TC – Stunning Example/ Original UK Car
The MG TC was the first post war car produced by MG and was every inch the traditional British sports car. It was an immediate success with good performance courtesy of the XPAG engine and entertaining handling. Nearly all the production run of 10, 000 cars were exported to the Empire or USA and original UK examples with provenance have risen sharply in value over recent years
Milestone Classics are delighted to offer for sale one of the nicest and best driving TC’s you could wish to find finished in the stunning combination of Primrose Yellow with Apple Green interior. For me, the TC is the pick of the ‘T-Types’ with 19” wire wheels, cutaway wings exposing the front beam axle and more interior space than its predecessors.
The car is an original UK RHD example registered on 8th September 1947 and carries its original ‘MG’ registration plate. There is a huge amount of paperwork with the car containing invoices and service records back to 1962. In 1964 the car was purchased by a Mr & Mrs Hayes from Middlesex who emigrated to Australia in 1981 shipping the car with them. They cherished the TC for 35 years until 1998 when the car was sold to the only Australian owner who was based in Victoria who set about restoring the car.
Worked included:
· Car completely stripped
· All mechanical components inspected/ refurbished as required. Work included overhauling of engine & gearbox, clutch, brakes, kingpins.
· Datsun steering box (excellent upgrade)
· Replacement timber frame, rear wings, running boards, dashboard, instruments & windscreen
· Upholstery to seats/ doors
The car was repatriated in 2014 and has been used regularly by the only UK custodian since being maintained regardless of cost. Since arriving in the UK the TC has benefited from new rear springs, dynamo rebuild, replacement hood and recent half shaft.
The refurbishment work has mellowed very nicely over the last 25 years and today the car presents exactly as we like our own cars – very sharp but not over restored.
This is a rare opportunity to purchase a properly sorted TC that drives as good as she looks. Ready to use and enjoy, we recommend early viewing to fully appreciate the charms of this very special car.
