She was built by Volkswagen in November 1971 and shipped direct to Westfalia for fitting out being released for sale in March 1972. She is a rare lefthand drive Type 2 A/ B with a 1700cc engine in pale blue and white with a blue and white interior. The furniture and fittings have been retained as built by Westfalia so it retains it's period charm. The vehicle has not been chopped or lowered but restored to as close to original condition as possible save for the addition of electronic ignition. It was purchased by us in 2008 and has only ever been used by us throughout it's ownership. We are shown as the 1st and only owners on the V5. The mileage of around 55, 000 miles is believed to be correct as we have the original speedometer in kms. Whilst the camper is MOT and tax exempt it comes with a brand new MOT Certificate issued on 10 May 2023 expiring on 9 May 2024. During the period 2017-2019 the camper underwent substantial restoration costing in excess of £12, 000 which included not only a strip down bodywork repair and re-spray but also a major mechanical overhaul to ensure that it drove and more importantly stopped correctly with new mechanical parts which included a complete new front axle and anti-rollbar fittings and complete overhaul of the brake system together with many other parts. Anything that needed or could be replaced was done at that time as we did not want any mechanical problems in the future. Finally the camper was undersealed. All the work was carried out in Cornwall by Westcoast VW. The invoices are available for inspection. The interior seating has also been re-covered in attractive blue and white. During our 14 years of ownership the camper has been stored inside each year between October and March. Following the major overhaul the vehicles was not used during the Covid years 2020 and 2021. The age of the owners now in their 70s unfortunately necessitates the sale of this much-loved vehicle. Unlike many campers that we have seen this vehicle during it's 14 years of ownership has never let us down. However the oil has religiously been changed at 3, 000 mile intervals and the oil filter at 6, 000 miles. Features include Australian sunblind and step, 240v hook-up and cable, leisure battery and charger, 12v outlets, 2x240v sockets, internal lights, original fridge (12v 240v and gas), original fitted gas heater, foldaway twin burner hob and gas bottle, original wardrobe cupboards and sink. The sink has an electric water pump and tank, portable water container and fitted wastewater container. The original removeable swivel table is present around which 4 people can sit. The camper comes with the original rock and roll bed which provides ample room for two together with the original campbed/ hammock with original fittings. It has the original Westfalia popup top which adds a complete extra dimension to the camper. We are also supplying with the camper a large awning and a vehicle cover for when not in use. There are seatbelts for 5 plus a 6th buddy seat, curtains etc and she even comes with cups, plates and cutlery, toaster and of course a kettle so she is ready to go.
