When the new model 180 was introduced in September 1953, a new era began for Daimler-Benz. The integral pontoon body took over from pre-war constructions (chassis with screwed on top body). At the Geneva Auto Salon in March 1954, the six-cylinder models also finally came with the modern body types. The 220 a with 85 hp was developed further into the 220 S with 100 hp and later even 106 hp. The silence and elasticity of the engine was particularly noteworthy and its matching solid workmanship was a given. Especially today, the pontoon six-cylinder models are considered elegant, conservative and well balanced classics.
Our Mercedes-Benz 220 S Limousine was completely restored several years ago. Its maroon colored paint fits perfectly with the grey fabric. This classic stands out with its confident and reliable driving on country roads as well as motorways. It can be used way beyond classic oldtimer excursions.
