Descrição
The Buick Skylark was named after a seabird endemic to the Raso volcanic island in the archipelago of Cape Verde. It was introduced in 1953 as a limited production run of 50th anniversary convertible-bodied Buick Roadmaster and 8 years later as a luxury edition of the convertible and hardtop Special series. In 1964 the Skylark was offered as a separate model line and featured an increased capacity version of Buick’s cast iron Fireball 225 engine, the first ever all American V6 motor for production vehicles. Even though the Skylark was based on the Special’s platform, it came with an all new body design, a revised suspension and steering, better braking and comfort upgrades including a fully integrated instrument cluster and roomier luggage space.
The 1964 Skylark Convertible offered was produced in December of 1963 in Fremont California for the North American market to feature the Fireball V6 plant equipped with a Rochester 1-barrel carburetor to deliver 155 bhp to the rear wheels via a Super Turbine 300 auto transmission. While in the drier climatic zone of San Diego, California and later Elkhart, Indiana the interior was fully retrimmed in Sable black vinyl with matching Sable black power-operated soft top fitted. In 2018 the Skylark was imported in the EU where the body was treated to a full refinish in most refined Marlin Blue Iridescent metallic and the engine was overhauled. A dual exhaust, a set of American Racing Torq-Thrust original wheels and seat belts were fitted. It is now offered fully serviced with fresh power brake booster, FIA-certified and only 105818 verified miles.
