After 13 years it is time to move this wonderful car to a new owner and is offered complete with personalised number plate (inherited from the previous owner; not my thing)
If you are reading this advert then I doubt you need me to reiterate the production history of this model as you will know this already - if you don't, I'm happy to wax lyrical and direct you to the appropriate online resources. The salient features are as follows:
Colour: Metallic Azurite blue (366 code)

G/ box: 5 speed automatic

-First registered in August 1994 to a Ms. Clemence in Essex (5. 5 years)
-Second owner in January 2000 was a Mr. Skelly of Old Brompton Road, London SW5 who kept the vehicle in the family business with a transfer to Laura Skelly in April 2006 (8 years)
- Our family purchased then purchased the vehicle in February 2009 via a Mercedes Specialist dealer so it's been looked after by us for the last 13 years. During our ownership this vehicle has therefore averaged a little over 5, 000 miles p. a. (4, 680 during it's 28 year lifetime).
The vehicle has always been cared for which means all the those jobs an informed buyer wants to see done have been done, including:
-replaced 'biodegradable' wiring loom; May 2010
-replaced cylinder head gasket; May 2010
-replaced hood control ECU; February 2012
-replaced front and rear leather seat covers (OE M-B); September 2019
-complete rebuild of G/ box (by Mackies; Glasgow); September 2020*
-alloy wheels fully refurbished with new centre caps (photos may show old ones); August 2021
-complete new exhaust sytem (M-B; downpipe back); April 2022**
* Mackies are one of very few transmission specialists who really know the 722/ 5 gearbox. They provided a photo documentary of the work from start to finish.
** the result of a catalytic converter theft; complete system from Germany cost £1, 950!
All work has been carried out by W124 specialists - initially by Klasse in Fulham and for the last 10 years by Olly at Prestige Car Service (PCS) in Hordean (whose reputation rightly precedes them).
The MOT runs until February 2023 and PCS recently carried out an oil and filter service and checked the vehicle over for any new owner. They recommend only a couple of minor jobs :
- NSF spring (small crack) & OSF track rod will need replacing within next 12 months.
- Steering damper bolt will need replacing.
In the spirit of fair presentation would only add:
- NS h/ lamp wiper motor works intermittently
- Indicator stalk doesn't automatially re-centre after turns (never has)
- OSF window sometimes requires helping hand to fully close
- few minor paint scuffs on bumper corners
Other than the above the vehicles starts and runs perfectly and is indeed a wonderfully smooth, long distance tourer - I am genuinely sad to let this car go and if I lived in the country with a large garage it'd be a definate 'keeper'.
Everything electrical that should work does so, including cold air con - having new heating pads fitted with the full interior re-trim was one of the best things we have done ! There are of course no warning lights.
The major work detailed above totals over £12, 000 (exluding servicing costs) so the asking price represents only a small premium over this figure. I'll also throw in any spares I have accumulated over the years and even a spare battery.
