The Ford Mustang is an American icon and was originally based on the Ford Falcon compact. The first production Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan on 9th March 1964 and was introduced to the public at the New York World's Fair on 17th April 1964. It was, and remains, one of the most successful product launches in automotive history. The Mustang sold over one million units in its first 18 months on the market and its legend lives on with revised models still in production today after 50 years. With each revision, the Mustang saw an increase in overall dimensions and in engine power.
This 1967 Mustang 289c. i Auto Coupe presents in great solid order throughout. The 289c. i. engine is an uncomplicated unit and is known for its reliability. Presented in Highland Green made popular by the film "Bullet" it looks just right sitting on 5 spoke American Racing Torque Thrust D Alloys. Seemingly original throughout it still features drum brakes all round which are perfectly adequate for todays driving. The engine oil looks to be brand new it starts on the button a still pulls as strong as they did in 1967. There are not any rattles or smoke which can be expected for a car this age. Inside is very tidy indeed with a light tan trim and all switches work as they should. Rather annoyingly the previous paperwork has been miss placed, i believe during the journey over from the states. We have the current UK registered V5 in hand so we know the car came here in 2021.
If you are looking for a usable American Icon this is the car for you. Instantly recognisable as a Mustang its sure to turn heads of all ages and its V8 rumble is the perfect soundtrack for weekend cruising. As we all know these cars are only going up in value so a clean example like this also a nice investment.
