This listing is for my TR7 V8 of 1976 vintage and is therefore test and tax exempt and is registered as historic class. It was professionally built around four years ago to a very high specification and high standard using many TR8 parts. It was built as a fast road car for occasional track use and is a very capable car as you will see by reading the rest of this listing. It had over £10, 000 worth of parts fitted, for which I can supply invoices for most of them and which has resulted in a really nice car.
Much of the work was completed by S&S preparations a very well respected TR7 specialists.

The car was one of the first 2000 production Tr7 cars made and was produced at the Liverpool factory which makes it a rare item.
I have owned the car for two years and I have enjoyed every moment of it. Every time I get home after driving it I find myself sitting on my drive with a great smile on my face, no car has ever done that for me before and I have owned many exciting cars throughout my 45 years of driving. It is immense fun to drive and to say it is exciting is an understatement.
It draws crowds where ever I go and receives many favourable comments.

I will now attempt to list as many parts fitted to the car as I can, but it is a long list and I may omit the odd item.

Engine

The car is fitted with a Rover 3500 SD1 engine, this has an Edelbrock 500 cfm 4 barrel carburettor and Edelbrock inlet manifold and pancake air filter which cost £950. 00 new two years ago. It has a remote electric water pump and cooling fan £350. 00, which are programmable to run after the car has been turned off if required. I have recently fitted new plugs and leads. The engine was rebuilt prior to fitting and runs extremely well with no smoke or rattles. The engine is as clean as a whistle inside and when you remove the rocker covers, it all looks like new and the oil remains clean between changes.
The engine is fitted with stainless steel exhaust branch manifolds and these run into the stainless exhaust system £750. 00
The radiator was new and is the Tr8 type £180. 00, the engine is mounted onto a TR8 front subframe £150. 00.
The clutch is heavy duty and again was new at time of build and works perfectly. price N/ K
Last year I fitted new specialist fuel lines £65. 00 from front to back to cope with the new fuel types.

The engine is fitted with a High torque starter motor which starts the engine immediately. This cost £169. 00

Gearbox / Trans

The gearbox is an R380 type, 5 speed as fitted to the TVR and Morgan Plus 8 cars, it is an immensely strong gearbox and is perfectly matched to the engine, it was fully reconditioned and when fitted cost £954. 00
This is also fitted with a shortened Gearbox remote which cost £125. 00.
The propshaft is TR8, new with twin UJ’s Price N/ K, this leads into the limited slip diff which has a 3. 08:1 ratio and has an alloy backplate fitted. This diff and the rear disc brake conversion cost £4372. 00. I believe the callipers which were again new, are rover 827 callipers .
The conversion work for the above was carried out by S&S preparations The renowned TR7 specialists

Brakes

The braking system is quite special, it has aeroquip braded pipes front and back and new brake lines between. Price N/ K The front callipers are “Hi Spec” four pot alloy billet type and cost £750. 00 plus pads, the front discs are grooved and mounted onto alloy semi-floating hubs Price N/ k with new bearings fitted last year. £45. 00 As mentioned above the rear callipers were renewed along with the discs. Price N/ K This all make a very strong and very effective braking system. The handbrake is of cable type and runs through to the original lever.

Steering

I fitted a new Rimmers steering rack last year.£125. 00At the time of build it had new track rod ends and ball joints.

Suspension

The front suspension has spax adjustable shock absorbers £202. 32 which adjust using the key which fits the top of the strut in the engine bay. The front springs are heavy duty type.
The rear shocks are Spax adjustable £150 and they have heavy duty springs fitted ,
The anti roll bars are heavy duty £250. 00

Battery

The battery is mounted in a box in the boot area and is fairly new.

Interior

I fitted a new complete set of high quality Rimmers carpet last year £150 The seats are black leather mounted onto the original TR frames £175. There is a radio/ CD player in the car, it works but I far prefer the sound of the exhaust to any music, it sounds so nice it makes the hair on your neck stand up. All the controls work as the should, if I had to picky then i would say the wipers run slowly by todays standards but maybe that is how they were and in anycase I don’t take it out in the wet!! The roof lining is best described as original and a little tatty in one corner, I was planning on replacing it had i been keeping the car. The car is fitted with a removable glass sunroof which also tilts. I had mixed feelings about it, but on a hot summers day it is very nice to have a through draft when there is no aircon available, if the new owner wanted to use the car more as a race car then this could easily be deleted.

Body

The car was anti rust treated prior to being delivered new by a company called Cavity seal in 1976, it is no doubt what has helped the car survive all these years. It would have cost a fortune at the time but has paid dividends. I have the original certificate for this treatment in the massive history file that goes with the vehicle.
The car is very solid with no visible corrosion, When I first saw underneath it I was amazed how good it was and it remains the same. I don’t drive in bad weather in the snow or on salted roads, the paintwork is perfectly presentable, there are a few small blemishes but the Tahiti blue paint is mainly original and shines very well. The retractable headlamps work perfectly on both sides. The side marker lights in the bumpers also work.

Wheels and tyres

The car is fitted with 15” alloys and these have 195/ 15 toyo Proxus on the front and205/ 15 Toyo proxus on the rear, the tyres are almost new. £475. 00
There is also a spare alloy and vey good tyre in the boot.

I would like to stress again , this is not a run of the mill car as you will tell by now from the list of components above. Most of these were fitted new during the build and the remainder I have fitted over the past couple of years.

It appears these days, one has to provide a reason for selling a vehicle, well I am not loosing my storage space, I am not reducing a vast collection and I am not emigrating shortly , I have simply purchased a Jaguar XK8 and I cannot enjoy both as I don’t do enough miles these days. I have a large file to go with the car including numerous invoices for the parts and many old MOT’s and some photos. The V5c is in my name and the car is ready to drive away should you so wish, I can arrange delivery if you prefer at £150/ mile.

Payment
The preferred method of payment is cash unless by prior arrangement. The car will only leave my premises once it is paid for in full when a receipt will be supplied.

To save you trouble, I have quickly totted up all the above amounts and the total is just over
£10, 300 that is just the parts and does not include the price of the car aswell so the whole package of car with all the parts fitted is a bargain I think you will agree.
There are also many other invoices for smaller items which I have not included in the list.

I also have the original Handbook to go with the car.
