1940 Ford O1A V8 Standard Fordor Sedan. This is an easily finished project with 99% of the parts to complete it. I have near 9K in New parts which are steering wheel, five tyres, carburettor, later oil pump conversion, inlet valve conversion kit with one piece guides, adjustable lifter kit, 12 volt alternator conversion kit, front and rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders, front and rear wheel bearings and seals, brake master cylinder rebuilt with stainless steel liner, flexible and hard brake lines, brake drums machine skimmed, track rod ends, steering box rebuilt, fuel pump rebuilt, drive shaft u/ j rebuilt, water pumps rebuilt, radiator hoses, 12 volt electric windscreen wiper kit, Stromberg electronic ignition distributor and HT leads, cartouche door card kit for the interior. All the old rubber items have been replaced or have new parts to fit.
The original 221ci engine has been replaced with 1939/ 40 Mercury 239ci flathead which is the one beloved by hot rodders and vintage tuning guys as the one to have as it’s said to have a higher nickel content and is a stronger unit, this block certainly bears that up as there no cracks usually found on old flatheads. It has been stripped for cleaning and a hot tank and is ready to be reassembled.
I bought the car last year as a running driving car to be my retirement project but after some fairly major surgery, every hour I spend working on the car takes two to three days to recuperate. So my doctor has said to stop, so after fifty odd years of owing and working on vehicles it has to go. The 1940 Ford is one of the easiest vehicles to work on and the parts availability is second to none.
This is example is extremely solid without any of the usual problems with door bottoms and trunk floor areas. It will require a roof lining kit “$330” and the driver seat patched. It is a rolling chassis at the moment so it’s easily transported. It has a UK V5c and age related number plate and has been used as a staff car at military shows for the last several years. many hot rod and custom parts so it could be built stock or as a nice custom/ hot rod.
