A solid and rare 1969 Ford Thunderbird with the mighty Thunder Jet 429 7. 0 V8. This example presents very well in its original condition - ready to be used as it is or won't take much to make it mint.
Mechanically it is very well. It can idle slightly lumpy when cold on the choke (like most cars this age) but once warmed up it is smooth and silent. It sounds fantastic and pulls well under load, as well as stopping and steering as it should. It is running on 225/ 60 wheels which are wider than standard and provide a surprising planted drive when cornering.
The interior is mighty impressive, especially for a 53 year old car. The blue upholstery still looks and smells fresh and isn't sagging. The carpets and headlining also require no attention. The only thing to note is that the dashboard does have 2 thin cracks on top.
The exterior tells a similar story. It was cherished indoors in a dry state prior to its arrival in the UK last year and has been owned/ maintained by an enthusiast since. The paintwork wears its age well with some genuine patina on some panels, which are solid. It would benefit from a professional polish to take off some of the surface rust and some paint to make it showroom worthy. However I believe this would deduct from its original charm. The vinyl roof is lovely, with no tears or fading.
Underneath it is also very solid, additionally benefitting from new exhaust sections and various other parts. It's probably worth undersealing it to keep it nice, especially if you are planning to store it outside.
