For Sale is our freshly restored 1978 Series 3 lightweight. Her military ERM was 32AJ28, She joined the R. A. F in 1979 and spent her entire service at R. A. F Leuchars in Scotland. she has had 5 owners since leaving the R. A. F in 1992.
She was taken off the road in 2008 and left in a barn until undergoing a body off restoration over the last 12 months. Some work had been carried out by previous owners including a civilian rear cross member being fitted and a like for like engine swap in 2003 (all previous m. o. t's give proof of mileage). Only 2500 miles were covered between 2003 and 2008. The car had also been turned into a hard top, the roof, sides and back door come free with the car if wanted (they are a different colour though)
Work completed;
every panel has been off the chassis, repaired or replaced and taken back down to bare metal (via the removal of about 7 layers of military paint of various colours). Chassis has had previous work carried out (new outriggers and rear cross member) and has been redoxide primered and war paint coated. The upper bulkhead vent panel has been repaired, lower bulkhead has had new footwells and door hing panels, new doors and a restored military tailgate fitted (Not an original 2 piece split tailgate). New clutch master and slave, new brake cylinders all round. there are photographs available of all the work that has been completed.
Other info
The heater and oil cooler have been deleted at some point, there was an original smiths heater in the back that has been cleaned up and bolted in place but is not plumbed or wired in and has not been tested.
The car is Tax and M. O. T exempt however this will need to be applied for by the new owner as it became eligible whilst it has been off the road.
