1932 Frazer Nash T. T. Replica – Coachwork by Compton

According to records held by the Frazer Nash register, this T. T. Replica, chassis number 2057 was completed on 1st July 1932 making it one of the first T. T. Replicas of the 85 believed built. Recorded as having a ‘Meadows engine, short chassis, Compton body and De luxe equipment’ from new, the Frazer Nash was registered as ‘MV 2989’ and supplied to a Mr Parker.

Mr Parker owned the T. T. Replica for more than two decades before it was sold to a Dr Chapman and subsequently Mr Chambers both of whom owned the Frazer Nash for a year before it passed into the ownership of Brian Walker from Kent. Soon after Walker acquired the Frazer Nash, the Meadows engine expired and Walker and his brother installed a TR engine in order to keep the car on the road – it would remain installed until 2011 when the T. T. Replica was purchased by well-known Vintage Sports Car Club member, Phil Diffey.

The decision was made by Diffey to restore the Frazer Nash as the car had only been routinely serviced by Walker and the previous owners. When the car was stripped down and the chassis inspected, Diffey discovered traces of the original green paint which Walker had painted over in red. The chassis was in good order and required no welding and the body did not require anything other than two new bonnet sides to accommodate a new exhaust. Diffey sourced a replacement engine which was duly rebuilt, and all the running gear was overhauled with new chains and sprockets fitted. The Frazer Nash was completely re-wired by Winston Teague and allowed wires for indicators, spotlights as well as a useful 12v socket under the dash.

In 2015, the T. T. Replica was acquired by well-known Frazer Nash enthusiast, racer, and all-round marque obsessive – Patrick Blakeney-Edwards. The car was repainted green and benefitted from a further engine rebuild to Blakeney Motorsport specification utilising a new crankshaft, rods, pistons, high lift camshaft and new valve gear.

In 2017 the Frazer Nash passed into the hands of British collector, Charles Bishop who retained the services of Blakeney Motorsport to prepare the ‘Nash for his use.

Finally, in 2018 the T. T. Replica passed to the current owner, who had the interior of the ‘Nash re-upholstered. Sparingly used by him due to the number of cars in his collection, the T. T. Replica is being offered today in exceptional condition.

The Frazer Nash is UK road registered and UK taxes paid.
