So nice to see this lovely and beautifully preserved 1973 Jaguar E Type Series 3 Roadster again. I remember it arriving at Bramley Motor Cars in 2005 and being truly amazed at its remarkable original condition plus its one owner status and an odometer reading just 25, 315 miles !
Nothing of consequence has changed in the intervening 17 years other than the mileage now stands a smidgen higher at 27, 225. The regency red paint work presents beautifully whilst the biscuit leather interior looks eerily new, quite amazing given the Jaguar is nearly 50 years old... a real testament to careful and sensible ownership.
Pleasingly it's a manual car which is the preferred option for most people, me included actually, as the long-legged ratios allow you to hustle the big cat along with consummate ease.
Delivered to its first gentleman owner by Jaguar Cambridge in 1973, he was to keep the Jaguar for the next 32 years. As I've previously mentioned, Bramley handled the sale in 2005 and then again in 2018 to its third keeper.
The last owner has entrusted ongoing maintenance to a local specialist who has done an excellent job as this Jag roars easily into life, courtesy of the high torque starter motor, idling evenly on little or no choke from cold. Oil pressure on the gauge is perfect, this being sensibly doubled checked against a separate reading taken via the oil gallery, which again gave perfect 80 psi @ 2500 rpm when hot (factory spec).
A new luminition system and a period looking Becker stereo with the modern blue tooth internals being the only notable upgrades in more recent years. For good measure it has just received a large service and new mot, so completely on the button.
There is a letter on file from the first owner confirming his ownership and the mileage covered during his tenure, the remaining mots and period invoicing clearly verify the current 27, 350 mileage reading.
One only has to take a quick glance at this E Type to recognise what a special car it is..... wheels and chrome positively gleam against the robust original paint. Again under the bonnet, it's all perfectly inline with one's high expectations, nothing disappoints here.... it's certainly a super car.
