1965 E-Type Series 1 4. 2 DHC finished in its original colours of Opalescent Silver Grey with dark red leather trim. This is a matching numbers original UK right hand drive car. Manufactured on 25th May 1965, distributed through Henly’s and first sold by Chipstead Motors in Kensington, London. This iconic E-Type comes in arguably the best colour combination that Jaguar offered.
Our roadster was the subject to an earlier fully documented/ photographic restoration and has covered just 9000 miles since. It comes with an extensive history file detailing its mechanical history, with valuations, reports, copies of buff/ green log books, and over 40 years of continuous MOT’s.
The roadster came to us with an age related number plate, rather than its original number as it had been personally plated at one point in its life. We have managed to re-unite it with the original number plate, and this entailed having it inspected by Mike Duffy – the DVLA representative of the Jaguar Owners Club – who certified the car as genuine, well restored vehicle.
Prior to us acquiring the car, it had been in storage for over ten years. Being a leading classic car restorer, we have spent a lot of time ensuring the car is mechanically sound. It has been fully inspected with any parts we felt where poor being replaced or re-furbished, this included a full overhaul of the braking system with a new brake master cylinder. The car is now ready to be enjoyed as a very usable classic – it drives beautifully, the engine pulls strongly and the brakes stop the car with confidence. The interior had been fully re-trimmed in the correct deep red leather, just prior to it coming into our possession, so is in perfect unused condition.
Above all, this is an eminently practical E-Type - not one where restoration/ purchase costs were so high, you dare not use it – but one that looks great, with sound mechanics that is ready to be enjoyed.
