Petrol 2286cc. Genuine 2a 88inch Station Wagon. Galvanised Chassis rebuild. MOT exempt. Tax exempt. Large history file with receipts, MOT’s and documented rebuild photos. Illustrious former keeper. Previously sold by us back in 2018.
We are delighted to present for sale this extremely rare, rebuilt genuine Series 2a SWB Station Wagon. Being a genuine and early station wagon, it enjoys all the features one would expect to see – tropical roof with alpine lights, wing mounted mirrors, period number plates etc etc. There’s a towbar and electrics too.
Station wagons from this time are very rare, and if found normally have damaged remnants of the interior, but not this one – The interior houses three original elephant hide front standard seats, with deluxe trim covering the floors and transmission tunnel. The doors are fitted with elephant hide door cards, along with arm-rests and door pockets. There is a heater fitted too, which is an original Clayton item which was refurbished in the restoration. The original floor mats rest on top of all the nice trim – wonderful to see. The headliner is original and does not suffer from the usual sagging, along with the fitted interior light on the roof. The vents work and the rear houses individual inward facing tip up seats, again in elephant hide trim. This gives seating for seven people including the driver. A door card is also fitted to the rear door, as it should be. With the vents, sliding windows and alpine lights this really is a wonderful place to sit – we’ve not known a Classic Series 2a Station Wagon this complete in our years of trading.
Out on the road, the car gives a pleasing period driving experience, just like the 60s. The lack of non-original additions mean this car is delightfully unmolested and this shows in the driving experience. Having deluxe trim makes a real difference – the soft trim aids massively in sound reduction. There are hundreds of receipts spanning various items and service parts, and this shows….. the new owner will learn where this vehicle has spent much of its life, and in who’s illustrious hands, but for now we prefer to keep this private.
To give you a notion of just how much paperwork we have on this vehicle, it would not fit into a box file, and was delivered to us in a ski-boot box! The original spare door keys are with the documents, in addition to several of the original manufacturer books, original to the vehicle – in their cardboard container from the late 60s!
In summary then, if you are looking for an extremely rare, fully rebuilt Series 2a Station Wagon then you must consider this – Station Wagon’s themselves are near impossible to find, and coupled with the rebuild and detailed illustrious history, this is surely a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase a rare and collectable vehicle.
