This low-volume AVO car is extremely rare by any standard. This RS1600 “Bodyshell” is complete with all of the body modifications that AVO carried out.
According to FORD OF SOUTH AFRICA, they were shipped 100 cars in CKD format directly from AVO in UK. Of these cars, FORD SA only assembled 60 units as RS1600 cars, The remaining 40 units were built in collaboration with BASIL GREEN MOTORS of PERANA CARS fame. Basil’s brief was to transplant a tuned-up PINTO 2000 Engine. This car is a matching numbers and production tags AVO RS1600 unit - not the Perana version - confirmed with all pertinent detail in a letter from FORD Motor Company of South Africa. This car is original, albeit recently resprayed in the correct original Bright YELLOW. This aside, the car has been restored to original road-car standards. Kindly note that this car has never been rallied and identical to the equivalent AVO RS1600 cars sold to UK buyers.
The car will be ready for her new home globally in late February 2023. Well-considered offers based upon a “like new” RS1600 RHD car are invited but not binding. Asking £97, 000 excludes Shipping, etc.
