Hello,
For sale is an Opel Commodore A, that is a running project car that will want some work doing to make it road worthy.
I purchased this car in 2021, after many years of wanting one along side Another car i purchased early this year, but my other car which is even rarer is left outside, and is now deteriorating very badly and i just can't keep anymore cars inside, so the Opel will have to go as i just couldn't let myself leave it outside, just like my other car.
I will start off with what will want doing and that would be the passenger rear outer sill will want repairing, as it has about a 3 inch hole and a couple small holes near too it and the spare wheel well will need to be cut out and a fresh one welding in.
Both front and rear screen rubbers want replacing (included in the sale).
The gearbox some times jumps out of reverse but 90% of the time it is ok.
The paint work isn't great, but if you're good at body work i guess you could do patch repairs, as there's splits/ lifting in the paint in areas and a dent in the rear quarter where some paint has split and lifted.
Tyres will need changing, as they're years old and even though they have a lot of tread, they need to be changed!
Seat covers are old and front set covers are in a bad way! and the front door cards need work.
new carb needs setting up.
The work that has been done is
1. Oil filter / oil change
2. Top and bottom radiator hoses
3. Copper brake lines all round
4. brake hoses all round
5. brake hose securing clips
6. Gearbox mount
7. Propshaft bearing and rubber bush/ mount
8. new copper fuel line
9. rubber fuel hose
10. New mirrors (dodge charger style)
11. New clutch master cylinder
12. New Carb
13. New distributor cap
14. New distributor leads
15. New spark plugs
16. Side window rubber strips
17. New push buttons for the Dixie horns and washer
17. New clutch pipe hose
18. New Brake servo hoses
There is most likely other bits that have been done and need doing, but it's best to view the car in person.
Luckily enough even though these cars are incredibly rare to find and especially in RHD! parts are available from Germany, where you can find a lot of the parts.
The shell over all is fairly decent and to have survived so long is a miracle! but it's not mind or perfect and needs work!
The car will come with some spares as listed below
1. New Front and Rear screen rubbers
2. Spare engine but in the 3 litre version
3. Spare set of refurbed Turbovec wheels, in 14" and not 15" as already fitted to the car (very hard to find in either size)
4. a few distributor caps, that i had to buy in a joblot at £70 each! as they simply don't exist and was used on some early porches or mercedes if memory serves me correct.
5. points and rotor arms
6. door lock sliders (plastic) hard to find
There will be information that i've missed, but as i've said above, come and view and talk in person as visually you can get a better idea, and i will answer your questions as honestly as i can.
Lastly if you're after a jump in drive perfect car, then this is not it! but there is one for sale in Germany a LHD for £32, 000!
