1956 Standard 8 Super De luxe saloon four speed manual.
First introduced in Sept 1953 as the "Family" 8 replacing the famous "Flying Standards". The Super De luxe, series was produced late in 1955 as a challenge to the Ford Anglia, Prefect and the Austin 1100 with the added luxury of wind up instead of sliding windows and twin windscreen wipers.
This splendid example finished in Ebony black with contrasting red/ white piped interior was retained by its very first owner for at least twenty years, and just six owners since. The body & Ebony black paintwork is stunning with a gorgeous lustre & depth of shine. The underside amazing with no signs of repairs with excellent sills, floor pans & chassis all have been recently cleaned down & re rust proofed Driving very well with a strong engine, geabox & clutch.
With the car is a very comprehensive history file which makes for very interesting reading, including the original bill of sale, manufacturers guarantee, photographs of the previous owners with the car, hand books, service and repair invoices. previous Mots and Standard club information. Over recent years the car has benefitted from an axle overhaul, timing chain and tensioner, new clutch, slave and master cylinder, engine mountings, brake pipes, carburettor and four brand new radial tyres recently fitted. The mileage is recorded at 64700 miles.
