We are delighted to present for sale this Land Rover® Lightweight, finished in the usual military Drab Olive colour scheme with Khaki Canvas. This vehicle was actually sold originally by our company a long time ago – and so, it is both exciting and interesting to observe it once again. It was originally sold under our old name of John Brown Land Rovers®, and was recommissioned by our founder, John Brown Sr himself.
This Lightweight was purchased in the first instance due to the fact that it was essentially completely original – with the exception of the replacement seats to the interior, it would be hard to find a more original dashboard set up. Similarly, the exterior is typical, original Lightweight and enjoys all those trappings… original glass lenses, front and rear bumperettes, bonnet mounted spare, front lifting eyes and no silly additions which would detract from the simplistic appeal.
If you couple all the above in with the fact that this Lightweight is both MOT & Tax Exempt, it only requires a frugal classic/ military insurance policy to own and drive it. The benefit of this is that even infrequent users can enjoy driving it without worrying about ongoing ownership costs and hassle, yet the market promises that your investment will be at least as safe as money in the bank, if not more lucrative as time goes by.
In short, if you are looking to enjoy saved funds without them diminishing, then owning a vehicle such as this really is a no-brainer.
Most Lightweight owners buy these vehicles because the doors lift off without tools, as does the roof. The screen can be dropped onto the spare wheel and this gives wind-in-the-face driving as if you have just liberated an occupied city during wartime. Lightweights really are superb – and with their diminishing numbers (especially good ones like this), now could be the time to bag a decent one without paying a kings ransom.
