Here we have for sale a rarely seen crossover Series 2a model which have sold before, presented in the popular Marine Blue colour scheme, with Limestone wheels and Sand Canvas with side windows.
Externally, there are lots of period features, including those which denote it is as a crossover – the maltese grill, the lights in the wings, razor edge bonnet, wing top mounted mirrors, vintage numberplates and 750 tyres on steel rims and rear grab handles. There is a matching bonnet mounted spare fitted too. There is a towball and electrics to allow towing, which is a useful addition too. In our opinion, all of these items combined gives a very pleasing look – a good mixture between retro motoring, with some handy modern additions. It is nice to see a canvas with side windows for better visibility whilst driving, as well as to allow more light in the cabin.
The interior is largely standard, with three standard front seats, along with deluxe matting to the footwells. There is a square heater fitted under the dash, equipped with front demist vents, which is very handy for winter mornings. The rear is fitted with a pair of bench seats, along with 4 inertia reel lap belts, 2 per side. This gives seating for seven occupants including the driver, meaning the whole family can come on adventures, whilst safely seat belted. The side windows mean a better experience for those travelling in the rear – both lighter and meaning they can see out and enjoy the view! There is a load mat fitted to the floor area to protect it against scratches etc.
Out on the road, this Series delivers a pleasing period drive, which is aided by the parabolic springs for better comfort over standard, and the 750 tyres to extend the gearing and give a little more relaxing cruise. The period looks means it attracts glances wherever it goes, and the free wheeling hubs aid the economy by reducing front axle usage and wear. This vehicle has been treated with our underbody protection package, to give peace of mind to the new owner that it can be used whatever the weather.
In summary, if you are looking for an MOT and Tax Exempt Series 2a Land Rover® which is fairly ‘stock’ and won’t break the bank, then this is well worth considering. With classic insurance and strong residual values, it should prove a solid investment for the future whilst also being cheap to run in the longer term.
