The final second-generation WRX STI saw the debut of Subaru's now familiar corporate face. Dubbed the Hawk Eye key changes included a longer wheelbase, sharper steering, a larger-capacity 2. 5-litre boxer engine for UK models, revised suspension and DCCD for all markets. As with previous models Prodrive produced a Performance Pack (PPP), which took a standard STI from 281hp to 320hp and, for those who wanted a lower profile, Subaru also launched a limited-edition Spec D model for the UK - with Crystal Grey metallic paint and leather upholstery. More extrovert STI buyers however choose the Black RB320 limited edition - with the PPP, a bespoke chassis (boasting Bilstein dampers, Eibach springs and a lower ride height) a mesh grille and a new front lip spoiler. Meanwhile the WRX edged closer to the STI with the release of a 270hp WRX GB270 limited-edition model in September 2007. Japan also received a Spec C and Spec C Type-RA models.

The rarest special edition run was limited, meaning only 25 were produced for the UK market.
