Morgan+8: Opcon Supercharger/ 2 Owners/ 41k Miles
Introduced in 1936, the Morgan Plus 4 was the Morgan Motor Company’s first car with 4 wheels – the model designation 4/ 4 stood for 4 wheels and 4 cylinders. Always a popular choice for sports car enthusiasts across the globe, Morgan took the car to a new level when the V8 was introduced in 1968 (until 2004).
The combination of 1930’s styling with modern performance and reliability ensured the Morgan brand is as popular today as it was in 1936.
Mrs Mary Finn purchased her new Indigo Blue/ Navy Leather Morgan Plus 8 in November 2000. Factory extras included chrome wire wheels, walnut dashboard, union jack bonnet badges and a Radio/ CD player.
By 2001 and around 11, 000 miles Mary instructed her local Morgan agent, Perranwell Garage (Truro), to upgrade the performance of her car. Perranwell liaised with AJ6 Engineering and under the guidance of Dennis Priddle (AKA Mr Six) an Opcon Autorotor supercharger was fitted.
Additional work included:
· Upgraded aluminium radiator & oil cooler.
· Upgraded induction system.
· Librands performance exhaust manifolds
· Rear axle Panhard Rod upgrade
Over time Mrs Finn added a Simmonds easy fit mohair hood with matching 3-zip tonneau cover, hood cover, side screens bag, spare wheel cover, boot rack with Samsonite suitcase, Mota Lita steering wheel, sun visors and round door mirrors.
Mary finally traded her beloved +8 in 2017 for an Eagle E-Type Jaguar
The Morgan has a nice history folder including a full service history (12 stamps), old MOT's, invoices, contemporary sales brochure, Morgan Newsletters, Drivers Handbook etc.
Today the car drives as good as she looks. The classic combination of Indigo paintwork, navy leather, walnut dash, chrome wire wheels will never go out of fashion and the Plus 8 draws positive comments wherever you park.
Equally at home on long distance continental tours, a track day runout or simply a trip to the Goodwood Revival we recommend early viewing to fully appreciate the charms (and V8 soundtrack) of this iconic British sports car.
You will not be disappointed
