For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover® Series 3 Ragtop in Deep Bronze Green (1981).
Petrol 2286cc. LHD – not a Santana (very rare to see). MOT & Tax Exempt. Bonnet Mounted Spare. Recent Bumper. Recent Canvas. Brand New Set of JB 4×4 750 Tyres Including Spare. Deluxe Front Seats. Door Cards. Rear Bench Seats. Seat Belt Bar. 7 Belts. Front & Rear Mud Flaps. Tow Bar with Electrics.
We are delighted to present for sale a very, very rare beast indeed – this LHD Land Rover® Series 3, 1981. It is very uncommon to find any “proper” LHD Series, as usually they are Santana variants- this is the only one we have seen for the last ten years! It is fully exportable to any LHD territory.
This vehicle would also be ideal for a UK based client with a foreign holiday home… Tax & MOT exemption means that you can do all the yearly paperwork remotely, and you can drive them for 90 days a year on the UK plates and insurance…. perfect for those who don’t want to go through overseas registration processes, but enjoy a true experience whilst abroad.
Externally, there is a lot to like – the bodywork is a spray finish, in the most popular colour scheme of them all, Deep Bronze Green with Limestone Rims and Sand Canvas. A set of brand new, JB 4×4 750 tyres is fitted, along with a matching bonnet spare. A new bumper and a new canvas completes the look. There are a host of upgrades and optional extras – such as front and rear mud flaps, tow bar with electrics, rear grab handles, larger defender style door mirrors for better visibility, etc etc. It is ready to adorn the drive or garage of any drive in the world!
The interior is similar in finish – three front deluxe seats are fitted, with deluxe matting to the footwells. Door cards add to the premium feel. We have elected to fit a seat belt bar to this vehicle, which gives proper 3 point inertia reel seat belts for quick plug and play use – this also means a car seat can be used as per a normal car. The rear is fitted with new bench seats, all with four lap belts fitted, meaning this Series 3 seats 7 occupants including the driver, all with belts. There is a load mat to the rear floor.
Out on the road – this Series 3 drives just as it should – the petrol engine is a joy, and it stops well too. It delivers a pleasing period drive, albeit from the other side of the cabin! It has spent its life in Spain until 2012 when it was returned to the UK, so the chassis and bulkhead is far above the level expected at this age, with minimal repair and no evidence of works required.
In summary, if you are looking for a Series 3 LHD, then this is for you. We would say it is worth consideration, but we are the largest retailer of these vehicles worldwide, and finding these is a true rarity. We have done all we can in this case to make sure it is absolutely raring to go, with all seats belted etc – so it is ready to head off, perhaps to warmer pastures than Yorkshire. We often have to tell our clients abroad to stomach the RHD format – but not in this case – and therefore, we don’t think it’ll be in stock for long.
