What a discovery this car has been and with a very interesting supporting story too.
A RHD car supplied through Alfa Romeo concessionaires Marazzato to its one and only owner, a UK resident, an ex Italian International downhill Skier. Having been supplied cars on a sponsorship deal from Alfa Romeo Italy during his professional career he became passionate with the GTV and particularly the 2. 5 V6.
Following retirement from professional competing he came to the UK in the early 1970’s and was commissioned to build and launch dry ski slopes here in the UK. Once settled in the UK he wanted to rekindle his love of Alfa Romeo and he contacted his old friends at Alfa Romeo Italy to help him source the best spec’d GTV available. He was remembered and Alfa agreed to work with him to build a car to his own unique specification which included air conditioning and electric windows which were options not available to the UK market. Furthermore, they didn’t even charge him for these upgrades as a gesture to his past glories.
Once finished he collected it from Northern Italy and drove it all the way to the UK himself.
Local to us and living in Brentwood the owner recently contacted us as his beloved Alfa reluctantly has to go as he says he cannot look at it forever.
On arrival to view we couldn’t believe what we were seeing. With only a few minor defects across the car, it is simply an incredible find. It has been sat on carpet in a warm garage from new with little use over the years. Everything is so original and well-preserved. Its rare to find a car that has virtually never been touched or messed around with.
Supplied with the car is a fascinating history file. A stack of paperwork shows the original registration document (in addition to the latest V5C), service stamps in the original maintenance book, tax discs as well as a plethora of bills for maintenance carried out by the Alfa Romeo Romford dealership and specialist Auto Alfa in Brentwood.
