A beautiful example of the W124 E500, the legendary collaboration between Mercedes and Porsche.
Produced on Porsche’s old 959 production track, the E500 married the expertise of both Stuttgart manufacturers in producing one of the greatest performance saloons of the 90s. The W124 was essentially hot-rodded with the new 5-litre, quad-cam V8, the track widened and the suspension and brakes uprated to suit.
Unlike today’s performance cars that need to shout their potential with wings and loud exhausts, the 500E/ E500 was subtle, civilised, and sophisticated. Not a hard and loud sports car, but an extremely rapid and comfortable car for covering big distances.
This car was ordered new to Dusseldorf in 1995. Finished in Brilliant Silver with black leather, it was highly optioned when new with auto climate control, memory seats, electric rear blind, wood/ leather steering wheel and heated seats. Pretty much every option available. Like many of these cars it was then exported to Japan, where demand for them was high, where it remained until it was imported to the UK in 2015.
Plenty of attention has been lavished on the car in recent years. A freshly refurbished set of desirable Evo 2 17in alloys have been fitted with new Continental tyres, the engine wiring harnesses have been replaced, and the car has recently been through our workshop on behalf of the last owner, making sure the car is a well-sorted example. The history folder contains all bills from the car’s recent years in the UK.
Having spent most of its years in Japan, the bodywork is in excellent condition, both outside and underneath, which is completely corrosion free.
The Brilliant Silver paintwork is immaculate and the wheels are unmarked. The rear screen is not suffering from delamination as so many are.
Inside, the leather trim is in excellent condition, the headliner (a common E500 weak spot) is in great shape. Additional speakers have been fitted to the front door cards at some point in the car’s past as part of an upgraded sound system.
On the road it drives beautifully with correct temperature and oil pressure readings.

Overall, a very nicely sorted E500 with a very high specification, relatively low mileage in lovely condition throughout.
