A black Corvette C3 with T-Top and a beautiful brown interior: a combination we don?t often see but one that truly captures the imagination. And whilst we are at it we would also like to mention that it?s a manual version, a real treat for the enthusiast. But first, a brief overview of the Corvette C3.
The success story of the Corvette (The All American Sportscar) got a new chapter when the C3, or the third model, was introduced in 1967. A rugged design that instantly and without a doubt should earn the classification of a tough muscle car. Even back then. Sparse chrome, a shape that more than ever resembles the classic Coca-Cola bottle, and powerful engines: and with that a new success for the brand is born.
1969 was the first year the ?350 cubic inch? was offered. This 1971 variant packs 270 horsepower. The 5. 7-litre V8 is linked to a four-speed manual gearbox. However, the Corvette you see here is much quicker than original: a completely new ?crate engine? has been installed in the car with a power of up to 400 hp.
This very well-maintained C3 originates from Arizona and is finished in Tuxedo Black with a Tan interior. The car has been previously restored and is fully matching numbers. The engine has been rebuilt during the restoration and received a ?solid-lifter? camshaft upgrade with an aluminum intake manifold and Magna-Flow dual sport exhaust. From the former description you will have no trouble understanding why this Corvette sounds fantastic. Thanks to the removable Targa tops and rear window, a proper convertible feeling is almost comparable. The Corvette is also equipped with air conditioning and power steering.
The few body seams present are narrow and even and well aligned, the doors close smoothly and easily. The black paint beautifully highlights the chrome, which is less prominent compared to the C2. For years, the C3 was largely popular in bright, vibrant colours, but it?s now becoming a true classic, and more understated colour combinations are becoming increasingly sought after.
The interior is also in excellent condition. The upholstery has been renewed in the correct colour. The dashboard and door panels are all in very good condition. Unlike the C2, which had a Jukebox-like appearance on the dashboard, the C3 is more refined with a lot less shiny chrome and aluminum. Two large gauges positioned quite low behind the steering wheel and a group of small information clocks on a black plastic panel in the middle of the dashboard. Further to the right are storage compartments designed to ensure that small luggage items stay securely inside the car and are not blown away by a gust of wind.
In the center console, one of the favorite control elements can be found: the gear lever for the transmission. Four forward gears, each providing a firm push in the back.
The ?Vette? drives as a Vette should, with the thunderous sound of the V8 and a very pleasant combination of sporty and comfortable driving characteristics. The 5. 7-liter eight-cylinder is very responsive.
The combination of the color and the manual transmission make this a highly desirable C3. If you still need that final push, we warmly invite you to come to Brummen because in reality, it?s even more beautiful!
