It’s easy to forget just how innovative the VF750 RC15 was when it first came out. This was at a time of extraordinarily fierce competition between the Japanese makers and while their economy was booming so they went to great lengths for the slightest edge.
The VF750 RC15 had the cylinders reversed to reduce the wheel length; equalised air assist front forks with 3-way adjustable rebound and TRAC anti-dive system; Pro-Link 4-way adjustable rebound damping swing arm; reduced rake; 2-piece clutch basket; ducts to bring cool air in from above; changed air box; split radiators.
The innovations and the build quality meant it beat Kawasaki’s GPZ750 and Suzuki’s GS750E on most fronts, winning almost everything in 1984.
What we have here is a close to immaculate example with only 11, 673km (7, 249m) on the clock. It has been carefully stored and maintained, as can be seen by the photos. The engine sounds and runs as well as the bike looks. Please see the video. One for the discerning collector.
