For sale through AB 4x4s Cleveland is this rare opportunity to buy a very early Land Rover Series 2, manufactured in 1959 and built on a galvanised chassis.
We are about to perform a restoration on it so can be the colour and body of your choice, see later pictures of restorations we have done in the past. Or, you could buy this Land Rover as is and work on it yourself... a little project.
Now some people wouldn't know the difference between a Series 2 and a 2a. Well, you will notice the vent flaps are bolted to the vent flap brackets. The interior vent knobs are round instead of the standard ones. Front apron is a flat and more square looking shape. The engine would have been a 2l petrol, this has been upgraded to a later Series 3, 2. 25 petrol engine so more power and better economy whilst not detracting from its originality too much.
It has had a mere 4 owners from new, quite remarkable for a 64 year old vehicle.
Chassis is perfect as you would expect. It is believed that around 15 years ago the chassis was removed to make good. It was shot-blasted then galvanised. This in my opinion is far better than a new one maintaining its originality.
Bulkhead is also galvanised.
Engine will have all the necessary work carried out and will be detailed to make it look as good under the bonnet as it does on top.
Gearbox is superb and will also have any work required.
Bodywork will be stripped bare, removing wings, seat box, floors, doors etc. We paint everything separately then re assemble. All doors will be brand new including seals and furniture.
All steelwork gets re galvanised including the windscreen with new glass.
Inside also gets painted with new floors, seats and belts.
So as you can see these Land Rovers end up looking as good as new. We take pictures all along the way for the new owner so they have a detailed file showing any nasty bits put right.
As previously said, we can paint this any colour of your choice. Pastel green seems to be a favourite at present but we did do a yellow one recently.
We can add a brand new soft top and sticks at no extra cost.

All in all a super chance to buy a well sorted example that you can put your stamp on.
