Description

West Coast Classics are proud to present an exceptionally rare 1958 Packard Starlight 2 Door Hardtop with the swollen double tailfins, quad headlights and low wide eggcrate grille. With time fast running out for Packard, these were very low production cars, and some of the rarest of the 1950's cars, and therefore some of the most collectible and thinnest on the ground today! These were top-of-the-line cars for Packard Studebaker in their day with the 289 V8 and a host of luxurious accessories with this particular example being loaded with expensive factory options of their day.

The 1957 and 1958 Packard lineup of automobiles were actually based on Studebaker models: restyled, rebadged, and given more luxurious interiors. With the two companies merging in 1954, all models after this time were built by what was now known as the Studebaker-Packard Corporation. A very rare find with only 675 produced and very few remaining today. This being the creation of the final year of the legendary Packard Motor Company.

For the 1957 model year, Studebaker-Packard took its top-of-the-line model, the President model, and added a revised front clip with new fenders and hoods while using the 56 Packard Front Bumper. The Packard Clipper emblem was used in the grill to replicate the styling of the 56 Clipper. The designers also changed the quarter panels to accept 1956 Packard taillights. along with a Packard dash gauges from the 1956 to make a new dash board for the Packard. and called the car the Packard Clipper. Two models were produced in 1957, a four-door Town Sedan and a station wagon the Clipper Country Wagon. 1958 saw the Packard line expanded to four models; a 4-door sedan, the very rare a 2-door hardtop (sometimes referred to as the "Starlight", a name used by Studebaker), a 4-door station wagon, and the Packard Hawk, a modification of Studebaker's Golden Hawk with a "fishmouth" Packard grille.

You will look long and hard to find another finer example of this rare low production Packard, let alone such a true honest survivor like this particular example!
