We are very pleased to bring to market this beautiful Daimler Sovereign 4. 2 finished in the very rare and desirable colour combination of Ascot Fawn with red leather. A stunning combination that needs to be seen to realise how pretty it is. This amazing Daimler was supplied new to a Miss Dorothy Rhodes of Tadworth by her local dealer on 15/ 4/ 1971 and was kept by her until March 1998 when the second owner bought the car. Our vendor then acquired it in March 2010 and has owned it to this day. It is often said that this is a reluctant sale by many people, but this genuinely is.

The Sovereign’s history is fantastic, with a timeline of previous V5s showing the ownership details, a large selection of past MOTs and tax discs, which help in a big way to suggest that the mileage displayed may well be correct. There are a large selection of invoices, receipts and bills going back to the very start of its life, detailing the history that this lovely machine has enjoyed and the care and attention it has had throughout its life. The Daimler even comes with its original dealer supplied handbook pack, with the instruction manual and operating guide, as well as all the relevant information you received and, most importantly, an originally supplied service book containing 16 stamps. This also leads you to believe the mileage is correct and believable. The car also comes with a photo album showing the car at various stages of its life, an original illustrated parts catalogue from 1970, as well as details of Daimler / Jaguar parts suppliers of today. Another nice touch was something that happened a lot in the 1970s, a spare ignition key fixed under the bonnet just in case you lost your keys. Lovely!

The overall condition of this Daimler is lovely, not concours but very nice - the paint is good, the chrome is good, the interior is in great condition and it has nice panel fit on all the panels. The headlining is lovely and was possibly replaced at some point, the dash and wood are too and still has what appears to be its original radio. The vendor informs us that the Daimler has had a recent stainless exhaust, a manual choke conversion (quite a good thing to have) and what looks like a new battery. It is offered with the private registration ‘1611 XJ’, a nice touch, and the original number was ‘XKT172J’ if you wished to put it back on.

If you want to know more, please make contact with us, or if you wish to see the car in the flesh, come along to our purpose built facility in Cheshire and we will be more than happy to show you this lovely Daimler.
