Description
1949 Land Rover Series 1 80"
This is a rare 1949 model, finished in deep bronze green, lights behind the grill, an original UK car which was a non military vehicle (as can be see by the bulkhead).
This Land Rover was the subject of a restoration back in 2015 and has been used sparingly since and in fact appears to have been used quite sparingly throughout its entire life. Some MOT certificates (not all) going back to 1970 when the mileage at that time was 26, 975 showing mileages of as little as 50 some years. During the restoration it had a complete paint job, new wiring loom, cappings regalvanized, new side windows, hood, overhauled the brakes, interior re-trim. Also recently fitted a set brand new Avon Traction 600x16 tyres.
At some point prior to 1970 this Land Rover has had an upgrade from the 1. 6lL engine to a later 2. 0L Spread Bore engine. This engine gives a much smoother and nicer drive. They look in period but are said to give a much nicer drive, due to their superior build quality and extra power. Being a 1949 model, it has the ring pull gearbox, and flat hood sticks to roof.
With the 2. 0L it's actually usable on longer distance drives.
This unique Land Rover was created for the Queens Jubilee celebrations in 2022. Featured heavily on social media, at the Land Rover Legends show leading the parade around Thruxton Circuit, along with various other shows and events.
As part of the Jubilee upgrades we wrapped the bonnet with the Union Jack (can be removed at ease), added the Queens tartan as seat covers (can be removed at ease), produced a custom made oak decking in the rear, with the official Jubilee coin embedded in the decking, we also added the wicker basket in the rear, again can be removed and the car returned to its original standard condition.
Everything works as it should, this includes the gauges, lights, horn, the single wiper.
