We are delighted to present for sale this rarely seen Series 2a ‘Crossover’ Genuine Station Wagon. It is very unusual to find a crossover model such as this, especially with much of its deluxe trim still inside.
Externally, this vehicle is largely original in format – the 600 tyres, original galvanised cappings, galvanised front bumper, black and silver numberplates, wing mounted mirrors, rear lifting handles, maltese grill and safari roof with alpine lights make for a pleasing period look. The spare is retained on the back door, as can be seen from the photos.
The interior houses a set of recent standard seats to the front, with deluxe matting to the footwells. This looks particularly good with the deluxe trim that has survived on the doors, sides of the cabin and the alpine lights/ windows. This, along with the original headliner and sun visors helps with sound deadening and gives a more luxurious feel to the ownership experience. There are twin benches fitted in the rear, with a load mat to the floor to protect against scratches.
Out on the road, this Series 2a drives just as one would expect of an original period vehicle – the 600 tyres aid acceleration, and give a light steering feel. The free wheeling hubs aid economy and reduce axle wear. Rear glass and alpine lights make the interior a light and airy space to be, with room for all the family. With deluxe trim fitted, it also gives a quieter than usual cruising experience.
In summary, if you are looking for a period Land Rover® which can carry all the family in vintage style, then this could be for you. It is rare to find genuine station wagons in a useable condition, particularly in crossover format.
