Description
1972 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV SE
‘GWD 585K’ has been developed into a front running 70’s road sports (Group D) car with class wins at both Brands Hatch and Silverstone. Eligible for and competitive in a wide range of club motor racing including with the HSCC and HRDC.
Converted from a very solid and well kept road car in the early 2000’s, this 105 series competition car has been successfully campaigned across the UK and Europe for over fifteen years.
Previous owner Max Haycocks (a well known Alfa man) spared no expense when developing the car for racing. Chris Whelan of WDL Power built the engine, thought to produce c. 180bhp. The gearbox comes courtesy of Bob Dove Motorsport – both known for getting the very best out of an Alfa.
Purchased in 2010 through Gran Turismo Engineering, the car has been part of a small collection of classic race cars and has been well maintained and fully prepared for racing and fast road use. The cars previous owner has continued to develop and upgrade the car over the last decade resulting in a very well sorted, reliable and really rather quick motorcar.
