Description
This original Matchless G3WO was found in a barn a couple of months ago. Following a thorough service by us it now starts, runs and is a joy to ride. We have deliberately not cleaned or polished it as we know that some buyers really like the barn find look. It retains many of its original features including Bowden brass combination levers, WD speedometer and T position light switch. It is fitted with the bottom half of a G3L engine which was most likely done during the REME overhaul in December 1953. The brass plate confirming this overhaul is fixed to the inside of the toolbox.
The bike was supplied to the War Office under contract C5247 dated 18th January 1940. They were delivered at 200 per week, which means this bike was probably manufactured in February 1940. We know that it was sold off by the Government at Feltham on 9th December 1957 and its original War Office registration was C1448774 and post war registration was 14 YA 27.
We welcome visitors if you would like to come and inspect the bike further and are happy to arrange shipping at the purchasers expense to most countries.
