Jaguar saloons led the field in production and touring car races during much of the 60s!

This was a special kind of motoring, that no other car could offer for the same price at the time, when considering power performance, luxury and advanced engineering.

Jaguar managed this unusual feat, with the Mark 2. Like all Jaguars to this point (and some way beyond), company founder, William Lyons, was directly responsible for the way it looked - and with the fitment of revised upper door pressings, a deeper windscreen, larger glass area, and wider rear track, the already handsome Mark 1 saloon was transformed..

For the Mk2, the previously top-of-the range 3. 4-litre car was now occupying the mid-range slot. But it was this car that really made the most of its forgiving suspension set-up, exploiting the wider front and rear track, and improving road manners. It was heavier than before so the Mk2's performance was slightly down on the Mk1's, but that was addressed by the arrival of the 3. 8.

And it's here - with the 3. 8-litre Mk2 - that Jaguar created a legend. The new flagship proved popular and profitable for Jaguar. With a 125mph top speed and throttle adjustable handling, the 3. 8 became the saloon of choice for enthusiastic drivers. A limited-slip differential improved traction, and power-assisted steering (a standard fitment from 1960) further improved the way the car drove.

Considered the best of all Mk2s and market values reflect this.

ABOUT THIS CAR

 Body #: SO25336
 Engine #: LC7695 - 8
 Gearbox #: GBN74137 JS
 NZ NEW
 Manual With Overdrive
Body seems to be good overall with no visible rust.
Paint is tidy with some stone chips.
 Chrome tidy some pitting
 Door Rubbers getting worn.
 Good Tires
Wood, Leather Upholstery, Carpet, Hood lining in good condition
Mechanically sound and car goes very well.
This is a good tidy example. Not Mint. Not concours, and price reflects this. A set of wire wheels and some cosmetic improvements would lift this car up nicely and it would make a great buy for someone that doesn't want to spend 85K+ for a 3. 8.
Has new VTNZ WOF and just been serviced by John Finlay Motors (Jag specialists in Christchurch). Also fitted new fuel pump.
 Black plates.

A very usable and desirable, well priced classic car, that was driven and enjoyed.

Nowadays becoming hard to find, especially in 3. 8 Manual/ Overdrive

Will be sold WOF'd and Registered if sold in New Zealand.

TRANSPORT / SHIPPING CAN BE ORGANISED ON THIS VEHICLE ON BUYER'S BEHALF AT BUYERS COST.
