We are delighted to present for sale this 1973 Series 3 Land Rover®, finished in popular Mid Grey colour scheme with Limestone Wheels.
Externally, as the photos show, the vehicle has a really complete look – with new 750 JB4x4 chevron tyres with matching new bonnet mounted spare, recent canvas, defender mirrors, vintage number plates, rear mud flaps, etc etc. We think the photos do the talking here – this is a lovely truck, in a rarely seen and sought after colour scheme, which turned many heads on our test drive route! Keeping it simple and authentic is the brief – and with a recent refurbishment throughout – in our opinion, we think it looks just as it should.
The inside is also a very standard affair, with three recent front seats, all with seat belts, and deluxe matting to the footwells. The rear is unfitted with the exception of a load mat to the floor area to protect against scratches to the floor. If more seating is desired, for £595 twin brand new bench seats can be fitted to allow 7 seated including the driver.
Out on the road, the petrol engine pulls sweetly to speed with the aid of a weber carburettor for additional power over standard, and 750 tyres to increase the gearing and make cruising a more relaxing experience. It drives just as it should, and it stops well too – the added benefit of the brand new rubber is evident and these tyres are super hard wearing – we’ve been fitting them for two decades – and they’re also directional so they are self cleaning, as well as having a super deep sidewall with a flat middle to allow the best combination between on and off road abilities.
In summary then, if you are looking for a Series 3 Land Rover® that benefits from MOT & Tax Exemption which you could use for work and play, then this could be for you. With the desirable colour scheme, lots of extras which enhance the period drive and classic insurance, it should prove a joy to own whilst being a solid investment for the future, and not costing the earth in the meantime!
