1970 Triumph TR6
Registration no: CPB 44H
Chassis No. CP513450
Engine No. CP51293HE
Introduced to succeed the TR5, the first production TR6 was built in September 1968 and all were carburetted-engine cars with petrol injected cars being introduced in November 1968 and built alongside each other on the same production line. Of the just over 91, 000 cars that were built, some 83, 000 were exported mostly to the USA. Only just over 8, 000 were sold in the UK and the car on offer is one of these - so a correct RHD car.
We’re told that this TR is in excellent condition having been carefully maintained by the vendor since he acquired the car approx. 15 years ago and with much work carried over recent years. In 2019 - 2020 the car was treated to a bare metal respray and any rust was cut out and pieces replaced. At the same time the car was fitted with new carpets and the seats recovered. The Lucas fuel pump was replaced by a new Bosch one and nine years ago electronic ignition was fitted. The vendor has said that the car has run well since with no fuel issues. In the last few months the car was serviced by the well known Griffon garage in Calne when they replaced the injectors and fitted new leads. The thermostat and the front brake pads have also recently been replaced.
The car is powered by a 2495cc six-cylinder engine driven through a four speed gearbox with overdrive. The recorded mileage is currently showing as 32, 600 and this would appear to be correct and backed up by old MOT certificates. This is a very usable classic, suitable for touring or a variety of events organised by the TR Club and others, and is said to be on the button and ready to go for the summer.
Offered for sale with a current V5c, an old style registration document, several old MOT certificates and a good history file. Being over 40 years old the car is exempt from the MOT and benefits from nil tax.
Estimate £15, 000 – 18, 000
