Description
This is a lovely example of one of the most useable and practical classics available. It is a 1974 Triumph Stag Mk. II, optioned with the Automatic Gearbox and finished in the wonderful period colour of White with Black interior. Our car has the most comprehensive service history and is showing a mileage of 127k from new. The invoices show constant improvement and restoration throughout its life including nearly £10k spent in 2017 alone!
Stylish, fast and practical, the Stag began life as a Triumph 2000-based styling exercise by Italian carrossier Giovanni Michelotti. A 2+2 convertible, Michelotti's design featured a quad-lamp grille and sculpted front and rear ends, the latter destined to appear on many future Triumphs. By the time production commenced in 1970, the 2000's six-cylinder engine had been replaced by a 3. 0-litre V8 based on an overhead-camshaft four already being produced by Triumph for SAAB. A padded, 'T'-shaped roll bar bracing the door pillars and windscreen was one of the Stag's most distinctive features, and the model could be had in soft-top, hardtop, or soft-with-hardtop forms. Introduced in 1973, the MkII version incorporated an engine revised to give smoother, quieter running and a revamped interior featuring a smaller steering wheel and redesigned seats among a host of other, more minor changes.
Our car is a beautiful older restoration, driving perfectly and finished in the most popular colour scheme. The invoices show an engine rebuild in 2013 and a gearbox overhaul in 2002. Just last year she had a full £1k service and is ready to go! There are plenty of smaller cosmetic things you can improve upon to bring her to a concours condition, or simply use as she is and enjoy the summer! We have a huge comprehensive service history and she is attractively priced for a totally honest and genuine car.
