Offered for sale is an unmistakably cool 1966 Ford Mustang ‘notchback’, presented in classic Wimbledon White with bold Dark Blue GT-style racing stripes, complemented by a matching bonnet scoop for that perfect period-correct muscle car aesthetic. Supplied new on May 17th, 1965, by Hunter Motors of Espanola, New Mexico. This Mustang has seen thoughtful upgrades and careful maintenance throughout its life. True to the spirit of American performance, it has been uprated from its original specification to a more potent 302ci (5-litre) V8 engine, paired with a reconditioned C4 automatic transmission for effortless cruising.
Since arriving in the UK in 2018 and entering its second UK ownership in 2019, the car has undergone extensive mechanical and cosmetic improvements. These include a rebalanced flywheel, replacement bellhousing and 157-tooth flexplate, a rebuilt torque converter, and a reworked propshaft. A refurbished back axle fitted with a Hauser-built differential, updated U. T. S., and rejuvenated parking brake add to its robust drivability. In 2022, further work was carried out on the rear suspension, fuel tank, transmission sump, brakes, air cleaner, and carburettor, along with new carpets, mats, and rear light lenses.
Cosmetically, the car has been repainted to evoke the spirit of 1960s racing legend Briggs Cunningham, while receiving new decals, rubber trunk seals, replacement front lower wing skirts, and a set of refurbished alloy wheels wrapped in fresh tyres. The result is a head-turning, road-ready icon that blends original charm with enhanced power and reliability.
