1932 Alvis Silver Eagle TD16-95 by Car Bodies
Chassis Number: 14801
Registration Number: UN6098
The Silver Eagle spanned the years 1927-1936 and according to the Model Register number 21 of July 1995 some 2690 examples were produced. This particular example has a light saloon body by Car Bodies of Coventry which has been fully restored at considerable expense with a new ash frame being fabricated to replace the deteriorated original timbers.
Inside the car is beautifully trimmed in brown leather more akin to Rolls Royce quality then that of lesser cars. 1932 was the year where a beautiful walnut veneered dash was introduced. On this example the woodwork has been removed & french polished to a mirror like gloss. A smokers hatch is fitted by way of a roof light.
The car comes with simply masses of bills attesting to a full engine & mechanical rebuld in addition to the new body timbers & full interior trim to the highest of standards.
The 2. 2 litre six cylinder engine displaces some 2. 2 litres & is fed fuel by the usual Alvis triple carb' set up giving it lively perfomance & easy B road running in modern traffic. The car starts readily & runs very very well with an easy to use gear box & quite lively performance by the standards of the day.
