Biarritz Sports And Classic Cars (BSCC) is pleased to present this 1969 Alfa Romeo Spider 1300 Junior, part of the first series nicknamed "Osso di Seppia" because of the distinctive shape of its stern. Launched in 1966, the Alfa Romeo Spider was designed by Pininfarina, with bodywork by Aldo Brovarone. The 1300 Junior version, introduced in 1968, aimed to make the Spider more accessible while retaining the dynamic qualities of its predecessors. Only 2, 680 units were produced until 1969, and under the bonnet was the Alfa Romeo Twin Cam engine fed by two Weber carburettors. Combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox, this engine produced a top speed of 170 km/ h. The chassis was based on independent suspension at the front and a rigid axle at the rear, with 267 mm disc brakes on all four wheels. The vehicle's compact dimensions (4, 250 mm long and weighing 990 kg) contribute to its agility, while the sober, functional interior features a two-spoke steering wheel, full instrumentation and supportive seats. The whole package reflects the minimalist approach of this Junior version.
This Junior was restored and improved in 2009 to bring it closer to the 1750 version:
