Launched in 1959 by Triumph as "The Best Motorcycle in the World", the Bonneville T120 was aimed mainly at the lucrative US market where enthusiasts wanted speed and high performance. In 1963 a stiffer and more compact unit construction model was introduced, which reduced the wobbles induced by the high speed of the bike (115mph). The Bonneville T120 was blue-plaque remembered designer Edward Turner's last production design at Triumph; although he apparently feared that the bike would lead Triumph to the bankruptcy courts.
