Description
History: The very successful A112 was produced for 17 years across seven series under the Autobianchi brand of the Fiat group. From 1977 it was the Lancia brand that marketed the nimble city car outside Italy. This A112 from the penultimate series was first registered in Italy in November 1984. In Switzerland, the well cared-for and rarely driven example was restored with great attention to detail and converted into an Abarth Recreation. With under 50, 000 kilometres on the clock, new brakes, a new suspension, a revised cylinder head, a fresh coat of paint and new seats, the little speedster feels very sporty and almost like new. The FIA-pass and the veteran registration were issued in 2023. Bodywork and paint: The new silver-metallic paint is in immaculate condition, the seams and fittings are flawless. The non-original hood air scoop has been replaced with an original part. The Abarth bumpers show light signs of wear and fit perfectly. Interior: The interior has been completely refreshed, the seats reupholstered with high-quality fabric and headlining renewed. Front and rear seatbelts and a genuine leather sport steering wheel complete the interior. There is a recess for the radio. This can be covered, so that a modern DAB+ radio can be installed while preserving the classic look. Engine and mechanicals: The light, trouble-free engine shows very good measured and emission values. With a mileage of only 47, 000 kilometres the mechanics are ready for many more years of use. Suspension: Suspension and chassis are in very good condition and worthy of a veteran. The test bench measurements are flawless. The Abarth wheels can be replaced with the original wheels supplied if desired. The mechanics are optimised for the FIA Pass and the veteran inspection. Driving: The label "city flier" is apt for this charming Italian. On the motorway the A112 holds its own bravely and stays in lane. The punchy sound accompanies you to high revs and makes driving fun. The FIA-compliant suspension with a 204 cm wheelbase moves the Lancia nimbly through every curve. The A112 is a true friend and a hoot to drive. And thanks to its FIA approval, it may even participate in historic races. Recommendation: The Lancia A112 by Autobianchi is one of the most popular historic small cars. It is charming, agile and practical at the same time. It offers seating for five, though the three rear seats (equipped with seat belts) naturally provide little legroom. For enthusiasts of such small cars, this example with its low mileage and very good condition is a sound investment in driving fun and everyday practicality.
