We are delighted to present for sale this 1966 Series 2a, finished in the most popular colour scheme of all – Deep Bronze Green with Green Wheels and Sand Canvas. This has been in the custody of one of our very best clients for the last five years – always dry stored, and has only done sparing mileage throughout that period. Those who follow what we do at HQ will know we are always in the market for vehicles which we previously have sold and maintained, as it gives us a strong baseline to sell it once again!
We are not a fan of those companies who name every car they sell to try and force some sort of “emotional attachment” to them and try to sell them as quickly as possible…. but this Series 2a has always been known as “Henry” due to the numberplate & has been affectionately known as such throughout the entire previous keepers ownership!
Externally, as the photos show, this Series 2a has a pleasing patina to it – with lots of period features such as wing top mounted mirrors, vintage number plates, brand new sand canvas with side windows, rear mud flaps, rear grab handles, original galvanised cappings, etc etc. We think it looks just as a Land Rover like this which has been well loved and used in its life should – we could spend two weeks rubbing it down and painting it, but we think it is neither correct nor necessary to do this – and we would then have to add costs to the asking price, which we’d prefer not to do.
On the inside, there are three front deluxe seats, with deluxe matting to the footwells too. There is a heater for the colder days, which is very welcome and twin individual wiper motors – which would’ve been an option when new. The rear is unfitted with the exception of a load mat to the floor area…. it could house bench seats for the cost of £595 bringing seating to seven people including the driver. The new canvas with side windows not only looks good, but it also gives a light and airy feel to the cabin area, and allows easier driving through the ability to see your blind spot etc.
In summary, if you are looking for a Classic Land Rover in the authentic, period guise then this must be worth considering. In our opinion – this looks just as it should and would be a fantastic addition to any family home…. whilst the MOT and Tax Exemption, alongside classic insurances, will mean it doesn’t drain the family finances… that job can be left to the partner and the kids!
