Description
I'm putting my VW Golf 1. 6D GL 5-door from 1983 up for sale. It was my first car and I learned a lot with it. But life being unpredictable, today I’m forced to sell it. I’ve already started a major overhaul on it, and the work will need to be finished. It only lacks a few steps to pass an MOT. The vehicle has its registration document (V5C) in my name.
The chassis is very solid. In terms of bodywork, overall only the two front wings will need replacing. I suspect, however, a repair of the windscreen surround may be needed.
On the electrical side, the dash wiring loom will need replacing. I’ve already replaced the fuse box and redone many connections/ earths. I’ve also changed some relays; a stockpile of parts will be supplied with the sale. The battery is new. The instrument cluster has been replaced because the old one had failed at the total mileage counter.
On the engine side the last thing I intended to do was replace the crankcase oil sump and its gasket. I have the new parts and they will be supplied with the sale. Otherwise I’ve cleaned the fuel circuit, replaced the diesel inlet and return hoses, refurbished the four injectors, the glow plugs are new, the timing belt is new, as is the auxiliary/ alternator belt. The rocker cover gasket has been replaced and its bolts are new as well. The oil change with replacement of all filters has been carried out.
On the running gear, the front and rear brakes are new (front discs/ pads, rear drums, shoes, rear system). The rear wheel bearings are new. Bleeding the brakes remains to be done. Replacing the tyres will be required.
I also have a kit of brand-new seals for the doors, the front and rear windshields, as well as for the tailgate.
The paintwork is not original, and it isn’t in prime condition having been done by the previous owner from whom I bought the car. It also has some application errors.
It’s on lowered suspension installed by the previous owner. I had planned to return it to its original suspension.
The wheels on it are original steel wheels; the trims are recent and in good condition.
The car is sold with its stock of spare parts, an engine + gearbox from a donor vehicle, its service history binder, technical documentation, and a roof rack in addition to the one fitted to the car.
The price is to be discussed in front of the vehicle.
