Description
MERCEDES SL 280 "Pagoda" W113 170hp – 1969, part of the iconic W113 SL generation, was first unveiled to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963 and remained in production until 1971. Designed by Paul Bracq, Béla Barényi, and Friedrich Geiger, the model introduced a patented, slightly concave hardtop roof that inspired its nickname “Pagoda.” The front styling features Bosch’s distinctive vertical “aquarium” headlights and a simple chrome grille dominated by the large three-pointed star, paying homage to the legendary 300 SL Roadster.
Three versions of the model were offered: 230, 250, and 280. The SL 280 was the final and most powerful variant, launched in December 1967 and produced until February 1971. It is powered by the robust 2, 778cc M130 inline-six engine with Bosch mechanical fuel injection, delivering an impressive 170hp. This particular example is equipped with a 4-speed manual gearbox, a factory option that is now highly sought after.
Presented in fully restored condition and in outstanding preservation, this is a European-spec vehicle, originally sold and delivered new in Germany. It features an elegant color combination: Graphite Grey exterior, Brown soft top, and Havana Brown leather seats with perforated leather centers and Honey Brown carpeting.
