Imagine owning a beautiful SL and ending up in the private collection of a Mercedes-Benz dealer. You've done well as a classic car owner, and you should feel a bit special. That's what happened to this beautiful 300 SL R107. It's an EU model that was registered on March 28, 1986, and ended up in Belgium. We can trace two owners and the necessary documentation, including the Carpass that recorded the odometer readings. This shows that the current odometer reading of 98693 km is the original. To be honest, the car shows that it's very original. Never welded or restored, which is quite exceptional for a 39-year-old car. But we are talking about a solid Mercedes. And one that has clearly been very well cared for by its owners. Also, take a look at the photos of the immaculate underside: a feast for the eyes. Some of the car's bodywork has been resprayed in the original Signal Rot color for cosmetic reasons, and that has been done very nicely. Inside, the car is also completely original and we sit on wonderful seats, upholstered with the well-known MB-Tex in the color Mushroom.
Perhaps superfluous, but we would like to emphasize that the car has matching numbers and is well documented.
The car has been in the Netherlands since 2020 and is currently part of a large private collection at a Mercedes-Benz dealership. We were asked to sell the majority of the collection for the obvious reasons: lack of space and insufficient use by the owner. And we certainly shouldn't have that, because this 300 SL drives fantastically, that much is clear. In terms of use, the car can demonstrate its qualities in any condition and season, whether as a full convertible, with the black soft top up, or as a beautiful coupe with the stunning hardtop in place. We always find it difficult to choose which is actually the most beautiful. All three combinations are fantastic to look at.
The fact is that the car can bring a great deal of enjoyment to its owner and passenger. Its appearance, the smooth running of the 3-liter 6-cylinder engine, coupled with a fantastic 5-speed gearbox, combined with its renowned high reliability, make it a joy to own. A truly carefree classic that also makes a great second car, and it's certainly not a struggle to drive long distances. Every kilometer is a joy.
