Introduced in the early 1930s, the Mercedes-Benz W21 220 embodied the company’s commitment to refined engineering and understated elegance. This particular example, first registered in 1935, is one of the desirable long wheelbase versions introduced from 1934. Under the bonnet lies Mercedes’ smooth 6-cylinder 2, 089 cc engine, producing around 40 horsepower — enough to deliver composed, effortless performance that made the model a favourite among discerning drivers of the period. Originally registered in Switzerland, the car still retains its Swiss papers, with all EU taxes now paid. More recently, it was part of the private collection of a London-based enthusiast known for his focus on classic Mercedes-Benz models. Under his ownership, the car underwent a careful restoration, beginning from a solid and well-preserved base. The body was refinished in a period-correct colour, complemented by a completely re-trimmed interior executed to a high standard. Mechanically, everything was inspected and overhauled where needed, resulting in a car that drives as confidently as it presents.
