Description
Do you know what we find so impressive about Mercedes-Benz? Whether you step into a Mercedes SL from the 1980s or a beautifully crafted cabriolet from the 1930s, one thing becomes immediately clear: quality. It is deeply embedded in the brand’s DNA, and this 1935 Mercedes-Benz 200 Cabriolet is a perfect illustration of that philosophy.
This elegant Mercedes-Benz features the flowing lines that are so characteristic of the marque in the 1930s. And the craftsmanship? Pure Mercedes-Benz. You sense it the moment you take a seat. The materials speak volumes about German precision and attention to detail. This particular example has been completely rebuilt—frame-off, down to bare metal. From there, it was meticulously reconstructed using high-quality materials throughout, with the entire process thoroughly documented. More than 600 photographs tell a single, unmistakable story: no compromises were made.
The color combination is period-correct, exactly as it should be. The interior has been retrimmed using the proper materials, and mechanically the car is in excellent condition as well. In 2023, this Mercedes underwent a comprehensive inspection, ensuring that the 200 Cabriolet is fully up to date technically and ready to be enjoyed.
This Mercedes-Benz was originally delivered new in Copenhagen, Denmark. A particularly special detail is that its documentation has been preserved dating all the way back to 1935. This is not only a beautifully restored automobile, but one that has clearly been treated with great care throughout its life.
You drive this car for the feeling it delivers. A Mercedes of exceptional quality—not only because it carries the three-pointed star, but also thanks to the outstanding standard of the restoration work. And once on the road, this Cabriolet naturally draws attention. People look, smile, and wave.
Thanks to the extensive restoration, this example also drives very well. The clutch is easy to operate, and the chassis feels solid and composed, exactly as it should. One thing becomes abundantly clear: Mercedes-Benz had things very well figured out even in the 1930s—and the quality of the restoration only reinforces that impression.
